The Phantom windows at Bloomingdales are elaborately detailed and quite beautiful.  The mannequins have an eerie likeness to the cast members.  Unfortunately the stage was in front of the store and only the press were allowed on that side of the street.  All the other observers were permitted across the street.  This would have been fine if they had blocked the traffic.  The view was constantly obstructed by buses, garbage trucks, etc and was very frustrating.  A live orchestra played while clips of the film were shown on a screen mounted on the building.  The cast posed for photos but did not sing, obviously because it's impossible to perform with exhaust fumes and noise.  Everyone looked great, but of course Patrick was radiant!  It was a feeding frenzy for the press, but I managed to exchange a few words with Patrick.  The following pictures are the best I could get in the chaos.  There was so much scaffolding that it was impossible to photograph certain windows.

While at Bloomingdales, I picked up a copy of the Phantom CD and Patrick's voice is better than ever.  The one big surprise on the CD is the new song "Learn to be Lonely" sung by Minnie Driver.  (Yes, she can sing!)  The lyrics are so painfully haunting that it speaks to your soul.  Whether or not you appreciate the song is purely personal, but its presence is undeniable.
